FAQ's

Is 3D/4D ultrasound safe for me and my baby?

3D and 4D ultrasound use the same frequency as your doctor uses in the normal 2D ultrasound. Ultrasounds have been used for over 35 years and there have been no proven side effects from its proper use. We strictly adhere to the FDA's standards.

When is the best time to have a 3D/4D ultrasound?

That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in twice. Early on (14-26 weeks) when they can see he baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However, all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to  39 weeks.

Will my insurance pay for my ultrasound?

No, we do not accept insurance because this is and elective procedure.

How accurate is gender determination at 14 weeks?

At 14 weeks we can determine the gender with very high accuracy. If you are over 14 weeks and the gender cannot be seen, we will invite you back for a weekday return appointment and we will rescan you for free within the next 14 days. The need for a return visit is usually due to the baby's position.

What should I do prior to my appointment?

Drink plenty of water days before the appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. It is recommended to drink one gallon of water for one to two weeks prior to your 3D/4D scan. A good amount of amniotic fluid around your baby's face is the key factor in getting clear images. About a half hour before your ultrasound appointment, try to drink a fruit juice so that your baby will be awake during your session (unless your are told not to by your physician).

Are family and friends welcome to join?

Yes! We encourage you to bring your friends and family to share this special moment with you. Children are also welcome and we provide them with toys to keep them entertained. Our ultrasound room can comfortably seat 6-8 people, but more are welcome if they would like to stand and watch. We ask that you limit guests to 15 as the room can not fit more than that amount. Also, please keep in mind that if you are having a gender reveal party and have the maximum amount of people in the room with you, we will not be able to keep everyone far enough from our ultrasound screen to keep the gender a secret from everyone.

***Number of guests will vary due to Covid restrictions and Governor's policies***

Will my ultrasound be performed by a certified sonographer?

Yes! We only have certified sonographers on our staff so you can feel assured that your ultrasound is being performed by someone that went to ultrasound school and was properly trained in ultrasound protocol.
